The Translation of the Sacred Relics of Saint Chrysostomos Papasarantopoulos in Congo

His Eminence Metropolitan Nikodemos of Nigeria, following an invitation by His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, travelled to the Democratic Republic of Congo and participated in the official Patriarchal delegation during the pastoral visit of His Beatitude to the cities of Kinshasa and Kananga, from 21 to 26 March 2026.

During this blessed visit, His Eminence had the special blessing to participate in significant liturgical and missionary events of the Orthodox Church in Africa, within an atmosphere of deep faith, emotion, and spiritual joy.

A particularly moving moment of the Patriarchal visit was the solemn transfer and translation of the sacred relics of Saint Chrysostomos Papasarantopoulos, the great Missionary of Africa, which took place with ecclesiastical solemnity and with the participation of numerous faithful and clergy.

The Orthodox Mission in Africa continues to be a living miracle of God’s presence, love, and grace, bringing the light of the Gospel to every corner of the African continent.
